Where the Journey Began (Windsor Lawn Bowling Club)

s

Windsor Lawn Bowling Club: The Project That Started It All

The Windsor Lawn Bowling Club wanted a premium collectible coin that members could use before every match to determine which team would play first. As the design process unfolded, it became clear that the club's existing logo no longer reflected the quality of its facilities or the pride of its members.

We completely redesigned the club's identity, drawing inspiration from Windsor's iconic Ambassador Bridge. The dated color palette was replaced with a bold combination of red, black, white, and grey, creating a modern logo that proudly represents both the club and the City of Windsor.

The new logo became the centerpiece of an exclusive custom collectible ceramic coin presented to members as they renewed their annual memberships at the beginning of the new season. Designed for use before every lawn bowling match to determine which team would play first, the coin quickly became both a practical game accessory and a symbol of club pride. Although created for a single lawn bowling club, the project quickly revealed a much bigger opportunity. What began as one custom collectible coin became the inspiration for helping organizations around the world celebrate their own stories, brands, and communities.

More importantly, this project demonstrated that custom collectible coins could become far more than commemorative keepsakes—they could serve as powerful tools for branding, fundraising, recognition, tourism, and community engagement. That realization became the foundation of what is now HEADS or TAILS.

Today, this project stands as a perfect example of how a custom collectible coin can become much more than a coin. It can launch a new brand identity, strengthen an organization's image, build pride among its members, and create a keepsake that people will use and treasure for years to come.

Project Highlights

  • ✓ Complete club identity redesign

  • ✓ Custom collectible ceramic coin

  • ✓ Modern logo inspired by the Ambassador Bridge

  • ✓ Functional game coin used throughout every season

  • ✓ Presented to every club member

  • ✓ The project that inspired HEADS or TAILS

Project Outcome

A complete rebranding that modernized the Windsor Lawn Bowling Club's identity while introducing a functional collectible coin that inspired the creation of the HEADS or TAILS platform.

Why It Matters

Every organization has a story worth telling. This project demonstrates how a thoughtfully designed custom collectible coin can strengthen a brand, unite a community, commemorate important milestones, and create a lasting keepsake that people will use, share, and treasure for years to come.

Club Branding Case Study

A Modern Brand for a Historic Club (Woodstock Lawn Bowling Club)

Woodstock Lawn Bowling Club

The Woodstock Lawn Bowling Club approached us to create a custom collectible coin that members would be proud to own. During the design process, we recognized an opportunity to modernize the club's existing logo while preserving its history and identity.

As a thank-you for choosing our custom collectible coins, we redesigned the club's logo at no additional charge. The refreshed logo became the centerpiece of two exclusive ceramic coins created specifically for the Woodstock Lawn Bowling Club and the logo, the foundation for a new identity and new club shirts.

The club presented a commemorative coin to each member at the start of the season as part of their annual membership package. Additional coins were produced for tournament sales, promotional giveaways, and prize awards, creating a lasting keepsake that celebrates the club and its members.

In the end, we modernized an outdated logo and created two collectible coin designs.

This project demonstrates how a custom collectible coin can become much more than a souvenir—it can strengthen a club's brand, enhance member engagement, generate additional revenue, and create a collectible that members will treasure for years to come.

Project Highlights

  • ✓ Complimentary logo refresh

  • ✓ Two exclusive ceramic coin designs

  • ✓ Member welcome gift

  • ✓ Tournament merchandise

  • ✓ Prize and award coins

  • ✓ Long-term club branding

Project Outcome

A refreshed club brand, two exclusive collectible coins, and a new way to welcome members, recognize tournament participants, and generate additional revenue through commemorative merchandise.

Why It Matters

A custom coin can do more than commemorate an organization—it can help modernize a brand, engage members, and create new fundraising and merchandising opportunities.

Complete Brand Refresh Case Study

A Complete Brand Transformation (Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowls Club)

s

Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowls Club

The Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowls Club initially approached us to explore the possibility of creating a custom collectible coin for their members. As we began developing concepts, it quickly became apparent that the club's existing logo no longer reflected the quality and reputation of the organization.

Working closely with the club, we designed a completely new visual identity that modernized their brand while respecting its history. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and the club officially adopted the new design as its permanent logo.

The refreshed branding became the foundation of an exclusive custom collectible ceramic coin created specifically for the club. The coin was designed for use at club events, member recognition, and as a commemorative keepsake for visitors attending the 2023 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships hosted by Juan de Fuca.

As a thank-you for choosing HEADS or TAILS, we also created a professional black-and-white version of the logo, providing the club with a complete branding package for future marketing and promotional materials.

Our new logo design was officially adopted as the club's permanent identity.

This project demonstrates how a custom collectible coin can become the catalyst for a complete brand refresh—creating a stronger identity while leaving members and visitors with a lasting collectible.

Project Highlights

  • ✓ Complete club logo redesign

  • ✓ New logo officially adopted by the club

  • ✓ Custom collectible ceramic coin

  • ✓ Black-and-white logo package included

National Championship Case Study

Supporting a National Championship

s

Commemorating a National Championship

To celebrate the 2022 Canadian Mixed Pairs and Para Lawn Bowling Championships in Windsor, Ontario, an exclusive custom collectible coin was created to commemorate one of Canada's premier lawn bowling events.

The design incorporated the Windsor Lawn Bowling Club's newly redesigned logo, a stylized Canadian maple leaf, and the championship date, creating a distinctive keepsake that celebrates both the host club and the national event. The coin also featured bilingual English and French text, along with the club's website, reflecting the national scope of the championship.

The design was reviewed and approved for use by Bowls Canada Boulingrin, the national governing body for lawn bowls in Canada. Each athlete, official, and volunteer received one of these exclusive commemorative coins as a lasting keepsake of the championships.

Today, the coin serves as a collectible reminder of an event that brought competitors from across the country together while showcasing how custom collectible coins can commemorate major sporting events and create meaningful keepsakes for everyone involved.

Anniversary Commemorative Case Study

Etobicoke Lawn Bowling Club

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS

As the Etobicoke Lawn Bowling Club prepared to celebrate its 100th anniversary, the club commissioned an exclusive custom collectible coin to commemorate this important milestone while promoting the sport of lawn bowls to future members.

The ceramic coin features the club's logo alongside the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association's "Give It a Try" campaign, creating a commemorative keepsake that also serves as a promotional tool.

During the planning process, we identified an Ontario Lawn Bowls Association funding initiative that could help eligible clubs offset a portion of the cost of approved promotional materials. By incorporating the campaign branding into the design, the project aligned with the club's marketing objectives while potentially reducing its overall investment.

The result is a commemorative coin that celebrates a century of tradition, encourages participation in the sport, and demonstrates how thoughtful design can maximize both marketing impact and available funding opportunities.

Project Highlights

  • ✓ 100th Anniversary commemorative coin

  • ✓ Custom collectible ceramic coin

  • ✓ Promotes lawn bowling participation

  • ✓ Incorporates the OLBA "Give It a Try" campaign

  • ✓ Eligible for promotional funding assistance

  • ✓ Celebrates a century of club history

Project Outcome

A premium anniversary collectible that celebrated the club's 100-year legacy, promoted the growth of lawn bowling, and helped reduce project costs through an available promotional funding program.

Why It Matters

Anniversary coins can do much more than celebrate an important milestone. When thoughtfully designed, they can strengthen an organization's brand, support membership growth, promote community outreach, and help maximize available marketing resources.

Club Branding Case Study

Lindsay Lawn Bowling Club

"Give it a Try"

The Lindsay Lawn Bowling Club wanted a custom collectible coin that would celebrate the club while supporting its future promotional efforts.

As part of the design process, we developed a refreshed club logo inspired by Lindsay's heritage and the iconic beaver featured in the club's original emblem. The updated design modernized the club's identity while preserving one of its most recognizable historical elements.

The new logo became the centerpiece of an exclusive custom collectible ceramic coin, paired with the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association's "Give It a Try" campaign on the reverse. The result is a commemorative keepsake that not only celebrates the club but also encourages new players to discover the sport.

We successfully modernized a historic logo while preserving a key heritage element (the beaver).

This project demonstrates how a custom collectible coin can preserve an organization's history while presenting a fresh, modern image that members are proud to share.

Project Highlights

  • ✓ Refreshed club logo design

  • ✓ Custom collectible ceramic coin

  • ✓ Preserved the club's historic beaver emblem

  • ✓ Modernized the club's visual identity

  • ✓ Integrated the OLBA "Give It a Try" campaign

  • ✓ Supports club promotion and member recruitment

Project Outcome

A modern club identity and commemorative collectible that honors the Lindsay Lawn Bowling Club's heritage while promoting the club, supporting future membership growth, and creating a keepsake members can enjoy for years to come.

Why It Matters

A successful brand refresh doesn't mean abandoning tradition—it means building on it. By preserving recognizable elements of a club's history while introducing a modern design, organizations can strengthen their identity, attract new members, and create promotional products that remain meaningful long into the future.
